Lights, Camera, Action!
POINTS OF VIEW: ON ETHICS is a continuous web-series created in 2019 by filmmaker Nolan Marks and Dr. Kathy McAdams, and first publicly published in May 2020. It was created for the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, College Park, and filmed on location in Studio C at Knight Hall in College Park, Maryland.
The series is designed to be a "living document", as Dr. McAdams states in the series introduction, that allows anyone to access intimate interviews with some of the most esteemed minds at Merrill as they discuss their experiences with the different pillars of the SPJ Code of Ethics. As Dr. McAdams also states in her testimony, the inspiration for the series arose from the limited "packaged guidance" openly available regarding ethics in journalism.
Technically, the creators hope this documentary-style series stands the test of time with respect to the quality of the videography. Marks filmed and mastered the existing segments in 4K quality utilizing the DSLR technology made available through the Philip Merrill College of Journalism.
